CONTEXT: right after the Gold Rush, before major earthquake, Leland Stanford sworn in as CA Governor, Civil War in effect, SJSU started as the Normal School in May, Pacific Railway signed into law
CONNECTIONS: we visit SF often, neat to see streets we frequent. Cool to see how Yerba Buena island looked before Bay Bridge was built.
COMMUNICATION: Yes -- is an official gov doc approved by CA court system. (we read this at the bottom of the map)
CONCLUSIONS: Allows us to see how much SF has changed since 1862! Allows you to see a snapshot of what life was like at the time (kind of ships you'd see is different; billboards up, etc).

Find pics of pre WW2 Los Angeles for my dad to show him on Father's Day & have a slideshow (where he'll tell the stories).
6. What advice do you have for others... Wear sunblock everyday.
