CONTENT

  • Anaheim was a German Colony of grape growers.  This is the second hotel on this site, the first  burned in 1871.  This hotel burned 8 years after this picture was taken.

CITATION

  • Owned by the Anaheim Public Library.
Property rights reside with the Anaheim Public Library. Literary rights are generally retained by the creators of the records and their heirs. For permission to publish or to reproduce, please contact the Local History Curator.

CONTEXT

  • There's a Barbershop next door selling Cigars and the Loa Angeles Chronicle.  This hotel is a wood and brick building.  There is a fire plug in the front of the hotel..  It appears there is an eucalyptus tree in the background.  These trees are not native to the area - the railroad brought them in thinking they could use them for railroad ties.  There are no people of color in this image.

CONNECTIONS

  •  While this hotel was in operation in Anaheim, the Jeffery family operated the Hotel Jeffery in Coulterville CA.
