Cross Team Sharing - using Calisphere resources
These are some ideas to get you thinking about the informal sharing with other Calisphere teams.
Use this wiki space to jot down notes for each team member.
Use the questions as a guideline and be prepared to BRIEFLY share your answers to one or two questions ONLY (time limit of 3 minutes)
- What did you explore or experiment with? The team spent time creating powerpoint presentations from the Calisphere resources. We used the itouch to present the powerpoint presentations. We used the itouch to present NPR Podcasts and music that is representative of the various historical periods. We also used the timer function on the itouch for classroom management.
- How did it work? The powerpoint presentations, broadcasting of Podcasts, movies and music were successful, especially because one team member does not have any other means of present a powerpoint in the classroom.
- What is something cool you found on your own? You can download or rent movies from itunes and present them on the itouch to the class, such classics as Far and Away and Glory. Also, there is software made by Coral that converts DVDs to the computer and itouch.
- What were the challenges you encountered? We had some problems with the presentation speed in the beginning, but we were able to work through the problem. The timer functions is useful to an extent; however, it would be more useful if it could be projected on a screen.
- What is something you still want to do? We want to be able to enlarge certain types of images when presenting with the itouch. We would like to create powerpoints of documents and images for each unit using Calisphere. Furthermore, we are interested in passing this information on to other instructors to incorpoarate the UCI and Calisphere resources into their own instructions--something Ann, our library has already started.. Addittionally, we would like to see the students itegrating the Calisphere resource into their research.
- What advice do you have for others...

District Team Sharing - This is our Game Plan!
- Topics we will cover when we share with other: HOT Curriculum, Calisphere, itouch powerpoint movie making, and wiki
- Who is your intended/desired audience - grade level. school, district: Napa Valley Unified School District, Napa and Vintage High School, 9-12
- Strategies to work together = Collaboration!
- Possible Challenges: There is always difficult getting some staff members to buy-in on new programs, especially ones that involve technology.
- When do you want this to happen? Early Release Collaboration, AVID release time, librarian instruction to students, and literacy training
- Action Items for this team: We will establish the dates to present the info. for early release. We will put together lesson plans for our classroom and implement prior to early release so we can share experiences with others. We will present the information to literacy committee in order to bring it to the staff.
