Cross Team Sharing - using Calisphere resources
These are some ideas to get you thinking about the informal sharing with other Calisphere teams.
Use this wiki space to jot down notes for each team member.
Use the questions as a guideline and be prepared to BRIEFLY share your answers to one or two questions ONLY (time limit of 3 minutes)
- What did you explore or experiment with?
- How did it work?
- What is something cool you found on your own?
- What were the challenges you encountered?
- What is something you still want to do?
J: start gold country unit with this original photo. use the 4 Cs and talk about. after the unit, use same photo as a post-assess. "now what do you know?" minimal teacher planning, but huge for ELL and limited teacher involvement.
- What advice do you have for others...

District Team Sharing - This is our Game Plan!
Fourth grade study of Mexican period of California is coming up. We'll share Disenos with 4th grade team at grade level meeting. They can use them to prepare students for studying ranchos. There is one that covered much of Marin County. Also, same format: we'll share idea of beginning and ending a social studies unit such as gold country with an image. This could also be done for the transcontinental railroad and immigration. Also HOT lessons can be used as a resource.
Literature: have downloaded original journals, drawings and photos from Yoshiko Uchida's life and writings on Japanes-American Internment. The images will support teaching of Uchida's book Journey to Topaz during language arts/social studies sessions.
We will also be sharing how we use Ed1 Stop at a staff development afternoon. Geoff and Jennifer will focus on Calisphere.
We hope to share the concept of looking deeply and generating questions and ideas from one image.
